A Glendale woman was arraigned Wednesday on a felony hit-and- run charge stemming from a crash that killed an 81-year-old man, and her daughter pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged attempt to conceal what had happened.

Goar Davtyan, 67, is charged with hit-and-run driving resulting in the death of Martiros Arutyunyan, who was struck April 16 while crossing the intersection of Broadway at Belmont Street in Glendale.

Alina Davtyan, 42, of Glendale, is charged with one felony count each of insurance fraud and being an accessory after the fact. She allegedly filed a false insurance claim two days later in order to have the damage to the vehicle repaired and to conceal her mother’s alleged involvement in the deadly crash.

The defendants were arrested May 13 by Glendale police and released early the next day on bond. They are due back in a Burbank courtroom Nov. 1.

Goar Davtyan faces up to four years in state prison if convicted of the felony hit-and-run charge, and her daughter would face up to five years in county jail if found guilty.
