As cops across the Southland struggle with vicious murders, rapes and robberies, Huntington Beach police targeted a sleepy transient who illegally used a motel room for a nap and stole a pillow.
Police Wednesday released a surveillance shot of the man who broke into a Huntington Beach motel and used a room for about a half-hour and absconded with just a pillow.
The suspect pried open a window just before 1 p.m. on Jan. 6 to get into a room at the Beach Inn Motel at 18112 Beach Blvd., according to Huntington Beach police Officer Jennifer Marlatt.
The suspect, who’s likely a transient, used the sink, had a smoke, rumpled the bed and then took a pillow as he left, Marlatt said.
The suspect is a white man about 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-11 to 6 feet tall with short, brown hair and a light goatee. He was wearing a white, long- sleeve shirt with black pants, red shoes and carrying a blue backpack.
Anyone with information was asked to call police at (714) 375-5066. Anonymous tips may be made by calling Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP- OCCS.
