New eligibility rules released Thursday state that motion pictures eligible for consideration must be at least 70 minutes long and released for paid exhibition in the greater Los Angeles area during the calendar year.
Television entries must premiere in the United States during the eligibility period and be available on a recognized broadcast, cable or streaming platform.
Podcast entries must release at least six episodes during the qualifying year, according to the guidelines.
Organizers also said eligible films submitted in the best motion picture drama and musical or comedy categories may also qualify for the cinematic and box office achievement category if they meet specific box office or viewership thresholds.
Campaign guidelines released by the Golden Globes place restrictions on gifts, event access and communications with voters during the awards season.
The Golden Globes honor achievements in film, television and podcasting. Organizers said the awards show is broadcast in more than 185 countries and territories worldwide.
Dick Clark Productions will produce the ceremony.
