Former Los Angeles City Councilwoman Jan Perry will step down as general manager of the city’s Economic and Workforce Development Department at the end of the year, Mayor Eric Garcetti announced Friday.
Perry is leaving to become executive director of the Infrastructure Funding Alliance, a statewide group dedicated to developing sustainable government infrastructure projects.
“Jan Perry has dedicated her career to making Los Angeles a better, more prosperous place to live, work and start a business,” Garcetti said. “Her passion, perseverance and persistence have helped strengthen our economy and workforce, and we’re grateful for her service and leadership.”
Garcetti appointed Perry as EWDD general manager in 2013 after she served three terms on the City Council, representing the 9th District, which includes parts of downtown and South Los Angeles.
“It’s been the privilege of my life to serve the people of the city of Los Angeles,” Perry said. “I look forward to this next phase in my journey where I will continue to serve the people of California by promoting infrastructure projects that will stimulate economic development and create good-paying jobs.”
John Reamer, director of the Bureau of Contract Administration, will take over as interim general manager of EWDD.
