Computer systems in the city of Torrance Sunday suffered a “digital compromise” but public personal data was not impacted, officials said.

The attack occurred at 2:30 a.m. and interrupted email accounts and server function, the city said in a press release.

“Public personal data has not been impacted,” officials said in the statement. “Safety operations continue to have access to communications. However, certain city business services are compromised.”

The city’s Transit store will not open until noon Monday but libraries will remain open during regular business hours, officials said.

“Government agency cyber experts are currently investigating the source of the attack,” officials said. “Staff is working with the appropriate agencies to resolve all issues.”

Anyone with questions regarding city business was asked to contact the appropriate department.
