UC Irvine medical students plan to hold the first of several rallies Monday in an effort to secure personal protective equipment for medical professionals.
Students are asking local businesses and community members to donate items such as: face shields, safety goggles, N95 masks, surgical masks, isolation gowns, and hand sanitizer. The rallies are taking place Monday-Thursday fom 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot of the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute at 850 Health Sciences Rd. in Irvine. Media are ted from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
In addition to the PPE supply drive, UCI School of Medicine students are also supporting UCI Health staff with babysitting, grocery shopping, and dog-walking, according to a statement.
