Nearly 9% of students tested for COVID-19 at USC Student Health last week tested positive for the coronavirus, up from 5% a week earlier, it was reported Thursday.
Of the 304 students tested between July 5-12, 27 were deemed positive for COVID-19, while one employee of the 55 tested had a positive result, according to USC Student Health.
Students have been exposed through congregate living environments and gatherings, especially those held over the Fourth of July, while employees have been exposed by not adhering to social distancing during meal breaks, Chief Health Officer Dr. Sarah Van Orman wrote in a communitywide memo obtained by the Daily Trojan.
The 27 students who tested positive have been contacted and isolated.
