A man was injured when a pickup collided with another vehicle and overturned on an on-ramp to the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Norwalk, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported at 11:27 p.m. Sunday on the Firestone Boulevard on-ramp to the northbound San Gabriel River Freeway, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.
The pickup tipped onto its side, caught on fire, and the driver was possibly ejected and found lying on the right shoulder of the ramp, Kimball said.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics took a man to a trauma center and a second ambulance was canceled, said Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman.
A SigAlert was issued at 11:50 p.m. shutting down the on-ramp and a Caltrans sweeper was requested to clean oil and water from the ramp, the CHP said. The ramp was reopened just before 1:30 a.m.
