An auto repair business owner pleaded guilty Monday to failing to report nearly $3 million in profits on tax returns over seven years.

Chung Ku Sin, 68, of Garden Grove, pleaded guilty to filing a false tax return.

Sin, the owner of Golden Auto Body, Tops Auto Body and Victory Auto Body, hid some of his profits from 2015 through 2021 by using a check-cashing business in Garden Grove, prosecutors said. He only reported the income to his tax preparer that he deposited into his business bank accounts, prosecutors said.

Sin falsely reported his total income in 2016 was $180,124 when in fact it was about $580,351, prosecutors said.

The total loss to the IRS was $977,807.

Sin was scheduled to be sentenced May 10.
