Roads in multiple unincorporated communities throughout Riverside County remained closed Tuesday because of flooding.

On Monday, crews from the county Department of Transportation deployed to the locations and installed barriers after lanes became submerged, and mud, dirt and other debris washed onto the corridors, creating travel hazards.

On Tuesday afternoon, a new closure was implemented on Joseph Road, between Finbrook and Nicolas roads, in French Valley. The corridor crosses Santa Gertridus Creek, which apparently overflowed during heavy rains.

On Monday, the first closure occurred on Hostettler Road, from Bolo Court to Temescal Canyon Road, in the Temescal Wash alongside Interstate 15, just north of Lake Elsinore.

The next closure was established on Bridge Street, between Gilman Springs and Fernandez roads, covering almost two miles on the east end of Nuevo.

A closure was then set up on Elmwood Street, between Carroll and Clark streets, roughly one block in Mead Valley.

An hour later, De Luz Road was shut down at Carancho Road, continuing south all the way to the San Diego County line, in the lightly populated community of De Luz, west of Temecula.

During the mid-afternoon hours Monday, crews closed Snow Creek Canyon Road at state Route 111, south to Falls Creek Road, near Whitewater.

A short time later, Elm Street was closed from Adele Avenue to the south to Bonita Avenue to the north, covering three-quarters of a mile in Cabazon.

County officials urged motorists to observe closure signs and barricades and not attempt to traverse flooded roads, which pose a risk to life and property.
