Palm Springs International Airport has introduced a program allowing non-travelers a chance to explore the airport or greet arriving passengers at gates without buying an airline ticket.

“We’re not just opening our doors; we’re inviting the community to experience the unique outdoor atmosphere of Palm Springs International Airport, witness exciting changes, and reconnect with something people truly enjoy,” PSP Executive Director of Aviation Harry Barrett Jr. said in a statement. “We’re committed to creating a world-class transportation hub for Palm Springs, one that reflects our valley and the welcoming atmosphere of our community.”

The Stay and Play Visitor Pass Program offers passes which will become digitally available to applicants through an email upon approval, according to a statement from PSP. Non-passengers will then get access to the airport’s secure area with the pass and a TSA-approved ID.

The passes, which are limited or unavailable during peak hours, will have a one-time use chosen during the application process, according to PSP officials. Visitors will not be allowed to take luggage or prohibited items, will be subject to the same security regulations, and will have to use the general security line.

Airport officials added that ticketed passengers will have priority to ensure efficient airport operations.

“Stay & Play grants non-traveling individuals access beyond the security checkpoint, where they can reunite with loved ones at the gate, just like old times,” PSP offcials wrote in a statement. “The program offers the opportunity for heartfelt farewells, quality time together before a flight, and sharing one last hug before departure.”
