Firefighters were battling a 64-acre brush fire in Lake Elsinore Sunday.
The fire was reported just before 2 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Walker Canyon Road and Lake Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
At the time of report the fire was approximately 10 acres, but grew rapidly and was sized at 64 acres by 3:20 p.m., however the fire department added that the fire’s forward progress was stopped.
Responding firefighters reported the fire burning upslope in light vegetation. Multiple air and ground resources were assigned.
Firefighters predicted remaining on scene for approximately four hours for mop up.
No injuries or evacuations were immediately reported.
The cause of the fire was not known.
