The front entrance of the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal has a new sign Friday.

The Aviation Division of the Riverside County Transportation and Land Management Agency installed the monument sign, which was funded by Supervisor V. Manuel Perez.

There are plans to have substantial landscaping work done around the main entrance after the summer season ends, according to Perez’s office. Twenty damaged palm trees are expected to be replaced next week.

“The Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport serves the Coachella Valley region and is one of our county assets and a key to our economic development future,” Supervisor Perez said. “I have sought to champion updating this airport, and this is an investment. The new and beautiful signage modernizes the entrance to our Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in the Thermal community.”
