More than 5,300 Southern California Edison customers in the east Long Beach area were without power much of Saturday due to an equipment problem that required repair, officials said.
The outage was first reported at about 9:10 a.m. in an area that included Bellflower Boulevard and Wardlow Road.
At 2:27 p.m., the utility reported that repairs were underway and most customers would have service restored by 5:30 p.m. Temperatures in Long Beach reached the mid-80s on Saturday, about 10 degrees cooler than the northern parts of Los Angeles County.
