Youths with a yearning to go aloft and work in fields connected to aviation will have an opportunity Saturday to get a head start in their career development thanks to the “Aerospace Community Expo” planned at Riverside Municipal Airport.

“This event is more than just a showcase of aircraft — it’s about opening doors for our community,” Councilman Steve Robillard said. “We’ve partnered with industry leaders, educators and local organizations to create an engaging, family-friendly experience that connects students and families to high-paying, high-impact careers in aerospace.”

The inaugural expo, slated to start at 9 a.m. and run about three hours, will feature interactive exhibits, simulators, multiple aircraft displays, free rides around the airport to early registrants and a host of booths staffed by representatives from aviation academies and colleges with flying programs, according to organizers.

Most of the activity will be in the terminal and the tarmac directly in front of it at 6951 Flight Road.

“Whether you’re a parent, student, educator, or just an aviation enthusiast, there’s something for everyone,” the councilman said. “I hope … we inspire the next generation of engineers, pilots, technicians and innovators right here.”
