The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose three-tenths of a cent Monday to $4.73, the third consecutive slight increase following a four-day streak of decreases totaling 1.9 cents.

The average price rose three-tenths of a cent Saturday and two-tenths of a cent Sunday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 1.1 cents less than one week ago but 11.6 cents more than one month ago and 17.2 cents higher than one year ago.

The average price has dropped $1.763 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price was unchanged, remaining at $4.701 after back-to-back increases totaling nine-tenths of a cent that followed a run of eight decreases in nine days that dropped the price by 2.4 cents.

The Orange County average price is a half-cent less than one week ago, but 12.2 cents more than one month ago and 21.7 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.757 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price is 4.9 cents less than one week ago, 6.6 cents less than one month ago and 8.3 cents lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.881 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“Gas prices have seen a notable weekly drop in most states as seasonal factors ramp up their impact — namely the switch to cheaper winter gasoline and falling gasoline demand,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations, said in a statement.

“Price cycling markets led the way with significant declines in Ohio, Florida, and Michigan, while Indiana experienced a price cycle that resulted in the largest weekly increase of any state last week. For now, seasonal factors will remain the primary driver of relief at the pump, though we continue to monitor the tropics for any potential disruptions.”
