The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Wednesday for the 27th time in 28 days, increasing 1.1 cents to $4.681, its highest amount since Dec. 3.

The average price has risen 32.4 cents over the past 28 days, including a half-cent on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose 20 consecutive days, dropped three-tenths of a cent last Wednesday and resumed increasing on Thursday.

The average price is 6.2 cents more than one week ago and 32.5 cents higher than one month ago, but 9.7 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.813 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose for the 28th consecutive day, increasing 1.9 cents to $4.625, its highest amount since Dec. 2. It has increased 38.2 cents during the streak, including four-tenths of a cent on Tuesday.

The Orange County average price is 7.7 cents more than one week ago and 38.1 cents higher than one month ago, but 11.9 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.834 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price rose for the seventh time in eight days, increasing 2.4 cents to $2.975. It has risen 5.8 cents over the past eight days, including 1.3 cents on Tuesday. The national average price increased four consecutive days, dropped one-tenth of a cent on Sunday and resumed increasing on Monday.

The national average price is 5.2 cents more than one week ago and 11.1 cents higher than one month ago, but 16.5 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $2.041 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
