Motorists traveling through Topanga Canyon should expect intermittent daytime traffic stops this week along Topanga Canyon Boulevard in an active fire recovery zone, transportation officials said Monday.
Caltrans said the brief traffic holds will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday on State Route 27, about 2.7 miles north of Pacific Coast Highway.
Flaggers will stop traffic in both directions for approximately five to 10 minutes at a time while crews enter and exit the roadway to perform maintenance on k-rail barriers, according to Caltrans.
Officials said the intermittent closures are expected to conclude by the weekend, though recovery work on a retaining wall will continue behind protective barriers.
The stretch of SR-27 between PCH and Grand View Drive remains an active work zone and is subject to overnight closures from midnight to 5 a.m. for utility work.
Drivers were urged to use caution, remain alert for sudden stops and expect possible delays, particularly around blind curves.
Fines for traffic violations are doubled in work zones, Caltrans said.
