A 67-year-old man who was fatally shot at a residence in South Los Angeles was identified by county authorities Monday.
Ricky Beland, who sustained a gunshot wound to the chest, died at the scene of the Friday morning attack, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. His place of residence was not immediately available.
Officers responded about 6:10 a.m. Friday to a report of shots fired in the 1700 block of West 84th Street, just east of Western Avenue, in the Manchester Square neighborhood, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers found Beland suffering from a fatal “penetrating” wound, police said.
A 60-year-old man who reportedly holed up at the location for a time was taken into custody after being struck with a less-lethal round, police said.
The suspect’s name has not been released.
