The Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee announced Monday a new community initiative that will provide 600 people, primarily youth from underserved communities, with access to FIFA World Cup 2026 events and activities.

The program will offer selected participants opportunities to attend World Cup matches at SoFi Stadium, visit the Official FIFA Fan Festival Los Angeles at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and take part in a post-tournament opportunity to play on the stadium field.

Organizers said participants will be selected through the Host Committee’s network of 26 Community Champion organizations, a coalition of nonprofit groups that use soccer to support youth and community development throughout the region.

The initiative is funded through support from local donors and community partners, including Bob Graziano and Wendy Wachtell, Jeanie Buss, the Stephen and Regina Oswald Foundation, the Greg and Patty Penske family and California Resources Corporation, according to organizers.

“FIFA World Cup 2026 represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to inspire young people across the Los Angeles region,” Kathryn Schloessman, CEO of the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee, said in a statement.

Schloessman said the program is intended to ensure the tournament leaves a lasting impact on communities beyond the matches themselves.

Krystal Williams, director of development for Special Needs Network Inc., said the initiative will provide many young people and families with opportunities they otherwise might not have.

“Opportunities like this create joy, connection, inclusion, and unforgettable memories, while showing our children that they deserve to be part of the same exciting moments and spaces as everyone else,” Williams said.

Los Angeles is scheduled to host eight FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, including the opening match for the U.S. Men’s National Team on June 12. The city will also host fan events and related activities throughout the tournament.

The Host Committee said the initiative is part of its broader effort to create lasting social and community benefits tied to the World Cup.
