The Palm Springs Public Library announced Thursday its annual six-week summer reading program will return next week aimed at preventing seasonal learning loss.

“Research shows that reading over the summer helps prevent learning loss,” Director of Library Services Jeannie Kays said in a statement. “Our library is committed to supporting lifelong learning and educational enrichment for all ages, and summer reading is one of our favorite ways to encourage our community to keep reading, exploring and growing.”

The program will run from Monday through July 18, with this year’s theme set as “Plant A Seed, Read!”

To participate, readers must create an account online and register through Beanstack and log their reading or listening titles. Participants who reach their reading milestones are entered into prize drawings that include a Nintendo Switch 2 and a game, a $100 Amazon gift card, a family fun pack of gift cards for local experiences, a raised self-watering garden bed and an electric bike. Prizes will be awarded at 6 p.m. July 22 during a finale celebration at the library’s temporary location at Rimrock Plaza, 4721 E. Palm Canyon Drive.

Registration can be found at palmspringsca.beanstack.com/reader365.
