A flurry of brushfires were reported along freeways and roadways in Southern California around the time fireworks began to fly Saturday evening.

The Citrus Avenue on-ramp to the eastbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Azusa was shut down by the California Highway Patrol just before 9 p.m. Saturday so firefighters could put out a brushfire on the right-hand shoulder of the freeway.

A hillside was reported on fire at 8:42 p.m. near homes at Stevenson Ranch Parkway and Chase Avenue in Stevenson Ranch, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A palm tree was reported on fire at 9:37 p.m. at 15202 Rochlen St ., near Turnbull Canyon Road, in Hacienda Heights, the CHP stated.

And fire was reported on the right shoulder of the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway at New Avenue in Monterey Park at 9:38 p.m.
