A Los Angeles County man who admitted selling purported cocaine containing fentanyl to two people, leaving one dead and the other seriously injured, pleaded guilty Thursday to federal drug and firearms charges.
Antjuan Doss, 36, whose last known residence was Harbor City, entered a plea in downtown Los Angeles to charges of distribution of fentanyl and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 16.
According to his plea agreement, on Aug. 13, 2022, Doss “knowingly and intentionally” delivered the drug, through an intermediary, to the two victims who were waiting in a parked car near the defendant’s apartment.
The pair — identified in court documents by the initials M.N. and G.N. — immediately ingested the purported cocaine and lost consciousness, authorities said.
The plea agreement states that shortly afterward, G.N. died of fentanyl toxicity. M.N. lost consciousness and would have died without medical intervention, the document says.
Doss was also accused of distributing 45 pills containing fentanyl on the same day.
After the death of G.N. was linked to the defendant, law enforcement served a search warrant of Doss’ car and apartment, including the bedroom he shared with a woman and their infant child. During the search, authorities found fentanyl on the floor and in other locations easily accessible by the child, according to documents filed in Los Angeles federal court.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Doss possessed a two-pound brick of fentanyl, 56 grams of cocaine, hundreds of fentanyl pills and suspected powdered fentanyl at the apartment.
Doss admitted illegally possessing a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
Doss is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition because of his January 2016 felony convictions in Los Angeles Superior Court for identity theft and using an access device without consent, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
