Investigators were searching for three suspects in the shooting, which happened about 12:45 a.m. at 101st Street and Denker Avenue, sheriff’s Lt. Jim Rios said.

The injured man was shot three times by a male who said something before opening fire, Rios said.

“Two men were walking to their vehicle when a suspect vehicle stopped in the intersection and one suspect jumped out of the vehicle and yelled a gang name and started shooting at them,” Rios said.

“One victim was struck three times in the upper torso, the other man was not hit,” Rios said.

The wounded man underwent surgery, the lieutenant said, but his condition was unclear

The three suspects fled the scene in a black Chrysler 300, Rios said.
