 A 38-year-old man was charged Monday with murder for allegedly stabbing his 6-year-old son to death.

Alejandro Sanchez also was charged with one count of assault resulting in the death of a child, according District Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Sarah Ardalani.

Sanchez was arrested in the 1600 block of East 88th Street in the unincorporated Florence Firestone neighborhood at 12:33 a.m. Thursday.

He was screaming incoherently and covered in blood when he was was taken into custody near the crime scene, sheriff’s Deputy Trina Schrader said.

His son, Nathan Alexander Sanchez, was found by deputies in a trailer at the rear of the house, suffering from multiple stab wounds, Schrader said.

Nathan was pronounced dead at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood.

Alejandro Sanchez was being held on $1 million bail. His arraignment, set for today, was postponed until Oct. 8.
