A man who allegedly killed and dismembered his live- in boyfriend was ordered Tuesday to stand trial on a murder charge.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge M.L. Villar de Longoria found sufficient evidence to require Gabriel Campos-Martinez, 39, to be tried for murder in the death of 66-year-old Hervey Medellin, whose head was found Jan. 17, 2012, in Griffith Park.

A dog with some hikers discovered the victim’s head, and Medellin’s hands and feet were found later.

Campos-Martinez and Medellin had lived together for about six months in a Hollywood apartment, according to police and prosecutors.

Medellin was likely killed on or about Dec. 27, 2011, and died from asphyxiation, according to the prosecution.

Campos-Martinez — who was described in an affidavit as Medellin’s “domestic partner” — was arrested in March in San Antonio, Texas.

He is due back in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom Oct. 7 for arraignment.

If convicted, he faces up to 25 years to life in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
