The Southland saw two incidents of gun violence this weekend with a drive-by shooting in Pomona where four were injured and a shooting in South Los Angeles caused by a possible incident of road rage, authorities said.

Four  men suffered gunshot wounds when several other men fired into their car at a restaurant drive-through in Pomona,  Pomona police Sgt. Iain Miller said Sunday.

The shooting occurred at 6:42 p.m. at Alberto’s Mexican Food, 1925 West Holt Ave., he said

“The car pulled through the drive-through and an altercation occurred between some people on foot and the people in the car,” Miller said. “Shots were fired and subjects were hit in the car.”

Los Angeles County firefighters responded and airlifted all four victims to a hospital where their vital signs were stable, he said.

The shooting may be gang related, Miller said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Pomona detectives at (909) 620-2085 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8877.

In South Los Angeles, a road rage incident may have led to a shooting early Sunday morning, said Sgt. Gina Holmstrom of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Newton Station.

The shooting was reported at 1:10 a.m. at Florence Avenue and Main Street, she said .

The victim was in his early 20s and was struck in his hip, Holmstrom said. He was transported to a hospital with stable vital signs.

“It was not apparently gang related,” she said. “It was most likely a prior road rage dispute.”

There was no suspect description available, she said.
