A couple living in a luxury downtown Los Angeles apartment that law enforcement believes was a stash house have been arrested for allegedly possessing multiple pounds of fentanyl and cocaine, along with firearms, drug-making materials and a small alligator, officials announced Tuesday.

Marvin Angelito, 27, and Susan Gonzalez, 26, were arrested last week and charged in Los Angeles federal court with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

According to an affidavit, the apartment was a “known drug trafficking location.” A Sept. 10 search warrant resulted in the seizure of 93.9 pounds of fentanyl pills and powder, 2.2 pounds of heroin, 15.9 pounds of cocaine, laboratory equipment such as beakers, mixers, stirrers and torches, and a hydraulic press, the DOJ said.

Law enforcement also allegedly seized an AR-15 rifle with ammunition located in a hallway closet, a gold-plated Desert Eagle .50-caliber pistol with ammunition located on the kitchen counter, a police radio, and a small alligator, which U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agents confiscated.

Both defendants made their initial court appearances Monday. Angelito was detained pending trial and Gonzalez was released on $15,000 bond, authorities said. Angelito’s arraignment was scheduled for Oct. 2, and Gonzalez will be arraigned a week later.

If convicted, the defendants could face a sentence of up to life in federal prison, prosecutors said.
