A 33-year-old woman who worked in a high school cafeteria in Claremont pleaded not guilty Monday to felony sex counts involving a male student.

Vanessa Antonia Tinoco, of Pomona, is charged with one felony count each of unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation of a person under 18.

Prosecutors said someone at the high school alerted authorities out of concern about the alleged interactions between Tinoco, who worked in the school’s cafeteria, and a male student at the school.

The name of the high school was not disclosed.

Tinoco has been jailed on $70,000 bail since her arrest Oct. 6 by Claremont police.

If convicted, she could face up to three years and eight months in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Tinoco is due back in court Dec. 4, when a date is expected to be set for a hearing to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.
