A man was fatally shot when he answered a knock at his door in the southeast Los Angeles area, police said Friday.

It happened about 11:15 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Caliburn Drive, said Los Angeles police Officer Drake Madison of the Media Relations office.

Tracey Thomas, 20, of Los Angeles died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.

According to the preliminary investigation, Thomas answered a knock at his door, was confronted by three suspects, and was shot, Madison said.

At least two suspects were later arrested, police said. Their names were not immediately released.
