A 39-year-old man was charged Friday with trying to kidnap a 13-year-old girl from a bus bench in Santa Clarita.
Guillermo Lomeli Ceniceros, described as being homeless and from the Rosamond area of Kern County — was ordered jailed on $3.1 million bail.
He was due to be arraigned Dec. 10 in a San Fernando courtroom.
Ceniceros wass charged with one felony count each of attempted kidnapping to commit rape, attempted kidnapping for child molesting and lewd act upon a child and two felony counts of attempted aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Ceniceros allegedly grabbed the teen Wednesday as she sat on a bus bench near Jakes Way and Sierra Highway.
A good Samaritan driving by yelled at the man to stop and at the teen to run away, authorities said.
The witness called the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, kept an eye on the suspect and directed deputies to his location, sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Rouzan said.
Ceniceros was arrested about 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
If convicted as charged, Ceniceros could face a maximum 13-year term in state prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
