A man was shot to death and three other people were wounded as gunfire erupted during an argument Saturday between two groups in a South Los Angeles neighborhood.

The victims were shot about 4:30 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Figueroa Street, near 88th Place, Los Angeles Police Lt. Jeff Nolte said.

An argument between two groups of mostly men escalated and a suspect pulled a gun and began blasting away, Nolte said.

Three men and a woman were struck, Nolte said.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the other victims were hospitalized in stable condition, he said.

“The circumstances of the shooting lead us to believe it was gang-related,” Nolte said.

The shooter was described only as a man wearing dark clothing, Nolte said.
