Firefighters kept a slow-moving brush fire near the Arroyo Seco Bike Path in Montecito Heights down to one-quarter-acre Saturday.

The fire was reported at 1:42 p.m. Saturday at 5010 N. Griffin Ave., near the Arroyo Seco Bike Path and Avenue 52, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton.

“Forward progress stopped in just over 45 minutes with approximately 60 LAFD personnel engaged,” Middleton said. “Fire companies are now in the `mop-up’ phase and will remain on scene to cool all hotspots and establish a full perimeter of bare earth around the burned area.”

Winds were 3-5 mph, no structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
