A Jeep stolen Monday when its driver left it running while dropping children off at a day care center was recovered in Pomona Wednesday at the end of a pursuit, police said.

The 2007 Cherokee was spotted about 11:30 a.m. near Towne Avenue and Alvarado Street, and officers started following it, Pomona police Lt. Mike Keltner said.

When officers tried to make a traffic stop, the driver kept going, leading them on chase that ended in the 1500 block of Palmer Street, where the driver was arrested.

Police notified the owner the vehicle had been recovered, he said.

The name of the suspect was unavailable this afternoon.
