A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed in El Segundo, police said Thursday.
The 62-year-old El Segundo woman was injured about 9 p.m. Wednesday at Sepulveda Boulevard and Mariposa Avenue and died at a hospital, said El Segundo police Lt. Dan Kim. Her name was withheld, pending family notification.
According to the preliminary investigation, the woman was crossing at the intersection when she was hit by a vehicle that was westbound on Mariposa and turning left onto Sepulveda, Kim said.
The motorist, a 53-year-old El Segundo man, remained at the scene and was interviewed by police, Kim said.
“There were no signs of alcohol intoxication at the time of this collision, and at this time, pending further investigation, no charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle,” Kim said.
