Authorities on Wednesday released the name of a 34-year-old man whose body was found wrapped in blankets in the bedroom of a Hawthorne apartment.

Hawthorne police officers called to conduct a welfare check discovered the body shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday in the 14000 block of Yukon Avenue and brought in sheriff’s homicide detectives to assist in the investigation, said Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

An autopsy was pending to determine the cause of Hawthorne resident Johnson Don Tong’s death, said coroner’s Chief Craig Harvey.
