A Carson man who gunned down his much younger brother in their mother’s Compton backyard was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison.

Dion Landry, 45, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter on March 3, and a murder count against him was dismissed at sentencing.

Landry got into an argument on Nov. 16 with his 25-year-old brother, Davion Branch, at their mother’s home. He left the residence, then returned with a gun and confronted Branch in the backyard, according to Deputy District Attorney Lee Orquiola.

Landry told sheriff’s deputies that he had shot his brother when taken into custody soon afterward.
