A search was underway for a suspect believed to have been fired at by an off-duty Los Angeles police officer in unincorporated Rowland Heights, authorities said.
The shooting occurred in the 17800 block of East Calle Aurora around 12:15 a.m., LAPD Officer Jane Kim said. Kim said the officer was not hurt, and the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. John Saleeby would not confirm the officer-involved shooting but said one or more shots had been fired at a vehicle after a report of a residential burglary. He said he did not know if anyone was hit.
