An investigation was underway Monday into a car-to- car shooting in Santa Clarita involving an off-duty Los Angeles Police Officer.

It happened near Rainbow Glen Drive and Swallow Court about 10:15 a.m. Sunday, said Deputy Kevin Duxbury of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station.

An individual detained for questioning cooperated with investigators and was released, said Santa Clarita-based sheriff’s Lt. D. Sabatini, adding that the investigation was continuing.

The Los Angeles Police Department was investigating the officer’s discharge of a firearm, but the overall investigation was being handled by the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Station, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section.
