A 69-year-old retired Los Angeles Police Department detective pleaded no contest Tuesday to a felony count of possession of child pornography.

Charles Daniel Henderson, who worked for the LAPD for roughly 20 years, is expected to be sentenced on May 27 to one year of counseling, 30 days of community labor, five years of felony probation and lifetime sex offender registration, according to Deputy District Attorney Samer Hathout.

A search warrant served last October at Henderson’s home in Downey turned up more than 600 images of child or youth pornography, according to the prosecutor.

Two other counts — distribution of child pornography — are expected to be dismissed as a result of his plea.
