Police on Friday urged people to contact investigators if they witnessed a pedestrian being hit and critically injured by an SUV in a Torrance crosswalk.
The collision occurred about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday at Hawthorne Boulevard and Emerald Street, said Torrance police Lt. Mark Underwood.
Police interviewed the motorist, a 65-year-old woman, and determined that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the accident, Underwood said.
The 55-year-old pedestrian, whose name was not released, was walking west across Hawthorne Boulevard when she was hit by a red Toyota Rav4 that was heading north, Underwood said.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Torrance police traffic investigators at (310) 618-5557.
