A motorcyclist was killed when his bike went over the side of Angeles Crest Highway near the Mt. Waterman ski area Sunday in the Angeles National Forest.

He was identified by the coroner’s office as William Adkins, 23, of Woodland Hills.

The single-vehicle crash was reported about 12:20 p.m. about 20 miles east of the Mount Wilson junction, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Adkins, who had been traveling east on a 2003 Suzuki Dual Sport, veered off the road for unknown reasons and plunged down a 100-foot embankment, according to the CHP.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be factors in the crash.
