A 42-year-old coach at a Koreatown after-school program is suspected of inappropriately touching eight girls, according to Los Angeles police, who sought the public’s help Thursday in the continuing investigation.
Ronnie Roman was arrested Wednesday by detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Sexually Exploited Child Unit.
Roman had been under investigation by the unit since last September, after a student came forward to allege that the coach at Cahuenga Elementary School, 220 S. Hobart Blvd., had touched her inappropriately on several occasions.
“During the investigation, seven additional female students disclosed that Roman had also inappropriately touched them,” according to an LAPD statement.
Roman, who’s facing eight counts of committing lewd and lascivious acts on a child, is jailed in lieu of $1.7 million bail, according to the LAPD and sheriff’s online jail records.
Anyone with information that could help the investigation was urged to call detectives at (213) 486-0580. After-hours calls can be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7, and anonymous tips can be provided by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
