A suspect was hospitalized in critical but stable condition Wednesday and another was in custody after an officer-involved shooting in the Westlake district of Los Angeles, police said.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of West 6th and South Coronado streets around 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Frank Preciado.
The suspects were in their late 20s and early-to-mid 30s, Preciado said, adding that one of them pointed a gun at two men nearby. As the officers approached the men, one of them pointed his gun at them, Preciado said, adding that an officer then opened fire.
Neither of the officers were hurt in the encounter, Preciado said.
The second suspect was not injured, he said.
