Police Wednesday investigated the stabbing death of a 25- year-old woman who was found laying on a sidewalk in Long Beach, authorities said.
The woman was found laying on the sidewalk in the 5500 block of Long Beach Boulevard about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, said Long Beach Police Lt. Mark Coble.
“Our officers responded to a battery call that was occurring on the sidewalk where the woman was found,” Coble said. “They found the woman unresponsive and initiated life-saving procedures.”
The woman was then transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name was withheld pending family notification.
“The woman was stabbed in the upper chest,” Coble said, adding that a male was seen running from the scene by witnesses.
The motive for the attack was unknown.
Coble asked that anyone with information on the stabbing to call Long Beach police at (562) 570-5273. All tips can be made anonymously.
