The City of West Hollywood announced a $10,000 reward Wednesday in hopes of tracking down three men wanted for a Memorial Day weekend assault on a local resident, who remains hospitalized with head injuries.

Kirk Doffing, 45, was assaulted while walking on San Vicente Boulevard toward Melrose Avenue about 9:10 p.m. on May 24, said Sgt. Richard C. Bowman of the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Department.

Doffing came upon three Hispanic men in their 20s who were wearing black or dark clothing. The victim had words with one of the three, who punched Doffing three or four times in the face, then all three men ran toward Melrose, detectives said.

“There seemed to be a verbal argument between the two,” Sgt. Richard Bowman said. “We don’t know what it was about, we don’t really know what was said, but at that point, the suspect assaulted him.”

He said Doffing fell to the ground and hit his head. He remains hospitalized in stable condition.

The sheriff’s department released a composite drawing of the suspect who delivered the punches and asked anyone with information to call the West Hollywood Station at (310) 855-8850.
