A woman was fatally struck by a Union Pacific freight train in Pomona early Thursday, police said.
The incident took place in the 200 block of East First Street, near the intersection with Palomares Avenue, around 1:15 a.m., the Pomona Police Department reported.
The woman died at the scene. Her name was withheld pending family notification, and it was not immediately determined if she was struck accidentally or committed suicide.
Palomares Avenue was shut down in both directions at First Street for the death investigation.
