A Culver City man was killed Monday morning in a fiery multiple vehicle crash on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, authorities said.

The collision was reported at 3:44 a.m. on the eastbound Santa Monica Freeway at La Brea Avenue, California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada said.

The man, in his 60s, died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office and the CHP. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives. One vehicle erupted into flames after the crash, Posada said. A motorist was taken to a hospital.

A SigAlert was issued closing the eastbound Santa Monica Freeway at La Brea Avenue and traffic was diverted onto the connector road, Posada said.

One eastbound lane was reopened about 6 a.m., and the remaining lanes were reopened about 7:35 a.m., the CHP reported.
