A 24-year-old man who worked as an associate producer on Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” show was fatally shot near his home early Friday in the unincorporated Chapman Woods neighborhood — just east of Pasadena.

Joe McMahon was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 3600 block of Yorkshire Road around 2:20 a.m.

A 24-year-old man suspected in the fatal shooting Joe McMahon was later found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department
reported.

In the first death, neighbors reported hearing several gunshots, according to the Sheriff’s Department. McMahon was pronounced dead at the scene.

“We are heartsick about this tragedy — our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to all that knew and worked with him,” Laurie Goldberg of Discovery & Science Networks said in a statement.

McMahon worked on the program in 2013, according to the Internet Movie Database.
