
A man who allegedly shot and killed a 55-year-old woman in the Los Feliz area Wednesday was himself critically wounded in an officer-involved shooting.
Officers responded about 12:20 p.m. to a shots-fired call in the 4100 block of Willimet Avenue. They were guided to the suspect’s location by an air unit, which had spotted him armed with a rifle or shotgun, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
An officer-involved shooting occurred when they approached the unidentified suspect, who was taken to a hospital for treatment of what were described as critical injuries, said LAPD Officer Ricardo Hernandez.
Police later said he was a 40-year-old man who had shot and killed a 55- year-old woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was unclear how or if the victim and suspect were related.
